Dan Marshall's Post-Match Reaction

ree

Manager Dan Marshall revealed post-match that he was left unsure as to why the referee had abandoned the game, citing that he hadn’t seen what happened.

The contest had been largely controlled by Rangers, and had the blue shirts been a bit more clinical in front of goal than the scoreline would certainly have been different from the 0-0 it was when the game was ended.

The dynamics of the two sides were changed in the 33rd minute when Aberford’s number nine was shown a straight red following dissent, but that didn't stop the league leaders from creating chances, and the closest they came was rattling the post after a lobbed shot in the second half.

On the game itself…

I’m not sure what happened and why the ref has abandoned the game at press, we were

about to make a change and l was giving Ash (Wood) last minute instructions. However, l thought for 70 minutes we were excellent, and the better side. I’m not sure what will happen now, so we’ll just have to wait and see what the league say.

On Rangers’ attacking play …

I thought the lads upfront chased, harried and won everything and made a couple of decent chances. The conditions weren’t the best with the wind that was pretty strong whipping across the pitch, making it difficult for both teams. We haven’t had a game or training for a couple of weeks, and I think that showed, but we looked good and were making chances until the match was called. Based on the first half performance, I think that we were probably the better side.

On Jonny Richards performance …

I thought that he was immense today, he was winning everything in the air and a couple of key tackles as well. Up to the abandonment, he was definitely our Man of the Match. Both him and Dave (McKay) suffered injuries, fortunately Jonny was able to continue but we lost Dave. We have had a weird day in the fact that we managed to get Jonty (Smith) patched up and on the pitch as he was struggling, but we managed it and credit to the lads involved.
