From The Dugout.

A windswept Barr Field made it an interesting game for both teams, but three goals in the first half and a fourth, late on in the second half, saw Rangers Reserves run out comfortable winners.

After the match, Manager Kris Macdonald spoke to KDRAFC Media, this is what he said:

On the game itself

It took us a while to get going, but we thought it might and before the game we spoke about taking the conditions into account, and for some reason, for about twenty minutes, we seemed intent on trying to shoot from about thirty yards!

Once we got the first goal, we did settle and we could have got more than the three that we did in the first half.

The second half we tweaked things, gave the front players more specific instructions and got the ball back on the ground due to the wind being against us. I think it was this that calmed us down, and I think we controlled the game a lot better.

On Sam Murphy's goal.

It's the old saying "If you don't shoot, or in this case cross, you don't score!" I think Sam would be the first to say it was probably meant as a cross, but you never know, he's capable of scoring great goals, but whatever it was, he's put it in a great place and the wind has helped it into the goal, so fair play to him.

On Jack Barker and Sam Murphy.

Jack has been playing at Tadcaster Magnets and not been getting many minutes. When he did get on the pitch, he's done ok, but as other players have returned, he's been back on the bench.

He asked if he could come down to us and he's fitted in well. His work rate is brilliant, and he offers us different options upfront.

Sam has been brilliant and gives us loads of options at right-back. He is constantly up and down that side of the pitch, is composed on the ball, wins tackles and shows a lot of composure on the ball.

On seeing Vito D'Avanzo back on the pitch.

Yeah, it was, it was super to see him again. He hasn't played since getting married and going on an extended honeymoon, but we needed to get him on the pitch as soon as we could. It was harsh on both Will (Hodson) and Liam (Dean) but we explained to them what was happening, and I think it will make a healthy battle for places.

Vito isn't completely match fit and I think it showed, but what he can do on the ball can often be the difference-maker. He has great control and vision, he has put in two superb reverse passes without looking that nearly led to goals.
