From The Dugout - Aberford Albion.

Following a match that showed Rangers much improved from their 3-1 defeat against Salts FC, Assistant Manager & First-Team Coach Ben Lawrence was left rueing Deighton's inability to finish.

Speaking to KDRAFC Media after the game, these are his thoughts:

About the game.

"It is one of those times where it's a case of two points dropped. We've had plenty of chances, especially in the first half, but as we have said to the lads, the build-up play is superb, it's just what we do in the final third that we need to improve."

"We are creating chances, and as we have spoken about before when you are doing that you can't be too disheartened. You need to worry more when you aren't creating. As the season progresses, you would like to think those chances will be taken."

"At the end of the day, it's a point against a good side. They have improved since we last played them, and come the end of the season it could be a good point."

On a good start for Rangers.

"It's always good to get on the front foot and start the game well. Ali's goal was superb, and after that, it was relentless with chance after chance. We just couldn't put the second one in to give us some breathing space, and we've been around long enough to know if you don't score, it's going to come back and bite you, which it did today."

On needing a response following the Salts game.

"There was definitely a response as the first-half performance was massive, but it's about putting your chances away. Last week, Salts were the better side, and we have to hold our hands up and admit that."

"I thought our energy levels were good today, and as I've said before, our build-up play was superb. The way we were playing caused them problems, we just needed to score!"

On Joe Barden's sending off.

"Thankfully it didn't change the game as there were only about five minutes left. Joe has just tried to push their lad off him, but the referee has made a decision and given him a second yellow card. It could have gone either way really. At the end of the day, it's one of those things that go for or against you."

On the next game against Wyke Wanderers.

"It's one of those matches where we will need to turn up. It's a hard pitch to play on that's always windy because of where it's situated, and it's a case of can we overcome those challenges while trying to play our style of football."

"They are a tough outfit who always work hard, so we will go there and try and search for three points!"
