Kirk Deighton Rangers v Route One Rovers Match Preview

It’s time to #FillTheField as we welcome Route One Rovers to Barr Field on Saturday, as we contest the second round of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup.

The game will kick-off at 2 pm and it may be advisable to bring an umbrella, as it looks like being a raining day!

We are running our Wetherby Foodbank donation scheme. If you wish to give any food items (please see the list here) you can drop them off from 1 pm until half an hour after the match has finished.

The Opposition.

Route One Rovers were formed in 2013 and have already picked up several titles. They were Spen Valley Premier Division Champions in 2013/14 and also West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division Cup winners in 2018.

Originally Rovers were members of the West Riding County Amateur Football League. However, they swapped to the Yorkshire Amateur League at the beginning of this campaign when the former ceased running.

Placed into the Supreme Division, they have claimed three wins, with two points also coming from draws. On their travels, they have won once and drawn twice, scoring seven times (avg. 2.3 goals scored per away match) and conceding 6 (avg. 2 goals conceded per away match).

It seems that Rangers will have to be wary of Danyal Yasin and Shoaib Iqbal, who have scored four and three goals respectively so far.

Head To Head.

This will be the first time that the two teams have met.

Team News For Rangers.

With an extra week’s rest, Manager Dan Marshall will be hoping that a few more players are injury-free and ready to go. Hopefully, the gaffer will be able to field a strong team against Rovers.

Man In The Middle.

Mr. Jason Payne is the match official for this game, and this will be his sixth game in charge and also his third with us (Mr. Payne was also the referee for our matches against Featherstone Colliery and Shelley FC.)

In his other games, he has sent two players to the Sin-Bin, shown four yellow cards and dismissed two from the field of play.

As with all the traveling players, officials and fans, we hope that Mr. Payne has a pleasant and hassle-free time whilst he is with us at Barr Field.

Following The Match.

Our Media team should be present at this game, so if you can't make it, cut would like to keep up-to-date with the score, please tune into our Twitter feed.

The gates should be open an hour before kick-off for the general public and our clubhouse will be ready to serve you a great range of drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), so please come in and say hello and enjoy yourself before the match starts. We will be featuring our matchday special drink, which you can purchase at a great price.

If you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.

To end the afternoon, we will be presenting our Kirk Deighton Rangers Bennett & Fountain Man Of The Match award to the winning player. Please stay and give the lucky recipient your congratulations.

We are still looking for a match sponsor for this game. If you or your business are interested, please contact our Media Officer by clicking here.

Our Man Of The Match is kindly sponsored by:
