Kirk Deighton Rangers v Shelley FC Match Preview.

ree

Dan Marshall’s men will be looking to make it a trio of home wins and, at the same time, exact a modicum of revenge on Saturday as they welcome Shelley FC to Barr Field!

The game has a 2:30 pm kick-off time, but a look at the weather shows goodbye to the decent weekend weather that we have enjoyed recently, with light to moderate rain showers and a gentle breeze forecast!

With the heavy rain that we have had recently, please keep an eye on this website and our social media channels for any updates to the game status.

The Opposition.

Shelley have always been a notoriously difficult side to beat and it looks like being the same again this season. They have wasted little time in making their presence felt in this league and sit on third place with 19 points from a possible 27.

Away from their ground, they won three of the five games they have played. They have also gained another point through a 0-0 draw with our neighbours Wetherby Athletic.

Goals wise, on their travels they have scored 14 times, giving them an average of 2.8 goals per game. Their concede record is also pretty impressive, have only had 5 goals scored against them, giving an average of 1.0 goal per game!

Head to Head.

Having played them recently at Storthes Hall and having a superb first half, a terrible second one and ultimately losing 3-1 (Luke Dubery with our goal), they hold the advantage in wins, as this will only be the second time that the two clubs have met.

Team News For Rangers.

The good news is that Rangers will hope to include both Joe Wilks, back from suspension, and Dave McKay who returns following injury. The Management will also be hoping that several faces who were absent from the 1-0 win over Oxenhope last weekend will also be present.

Still missing however will be long term injuries Joe Straker and Jack Abbott. Ashley Tatler will also have to sit this one out, having been sent off against Pool AFC recently.

The Man In The Middle.

The referee for this game will be Mr Jason Payne. This will be Mr Payne’s second trip to our ground having been the referee for our opening match of the season, when we lost 2-1 to Featherstone Colliery. As well as that contest, Mr Payne has also been the main man in three other games and has sent two players to the Sin Bin, shown two yellow cards and one red card.

As with all the officials and visiting teams & fans, we wish Mr Payne a pleasant and hassle-free time whilst he is at Barr Field.

Following The Match.

Our Media team should be present at this game, so if you can’t attend, but would like to keep up-to-date with the action and score, then log onto our Twitter feed.

As normal for a 2:30 pm kick-off, the gates should be open an hour before for the general public and our club house will be ready to serve you a great range of drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), so please come in and say hello and enjoy yourself before the match starts. We will be featuring our match day special drink, which you can purchase at a great price.

Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.

We are pleased to announce that tomorrow’s match will be sponsored by S.D Newband (Painter & Decorator). All at the club would like to thank Stuart for his kindness in sponsoring this match.

To end the afternoon, we will be presenting our Kirk Deighton Rangers B&F Electrical Distributors Man Of The Match award to the wining player, so please stay and give the lucky recipient your congratulations.

Please remember to allow yourself extra travel time to the game due to any local road closures for the bike race.
