Match Preview: Featherstone Colliery

ree
Can Rangers avoid a third defeat in a row on Saturday?

Rangers will be hoping not to make it a hat-trick of defeats this Saturday, when we travel over to Cressey's Corner to take on Featherstone Colliery, in what is sure to be a tricky test! Kick-off is scheduled to be 2pm, and it looks like being a decent day weather wise!

Despite being beaten by Premier League sides over the past two weeks, Rangers have certainly not disgraced themselves in any way and if we can take the passion, intensity and more importantly the play we have produced in these games into our league form, then the second half to this season could be very interesting and this is something that Manager Dan Marshall and his backroom team will be impressing upon whoever dons the shirt over the coming months!

Our immediate task is to gain points to keep us in touch with the teams at the top of the league, and although we sit in sixth place with a couple of games in hand over other teams around us, we find ourselves 11 points behind current leaders Hall Green United, so a win on Saturday will be a great boost on all accounts!

On paper, this fixture may look easy, but it certainly isn’t! Featherstone are a team who are notoriously difficult to break down. They are well drilled and will present us with a very tough challenge. Presently, they reside in 14th place in the table with a total of 10 points from a possible 36. At home, they have good form having won two of the three games that they have played with the other game ending in 4-0 defeat at the hands of Hartshead last month. In these three games, they have had no problems scoring, having found the net 10 times (avg. 3.33 goals per game). This is probably just as well, as they have also conceded 7 times so far (avg. 2.33 goals per game), so hopefully, goals will be plentiful on Saturday! A quick look at the stats shows that Adam Cameron is the man to watch for our defence as he has scored 7 goals so far!

Our hosts, according to the FA website, will be without Liam Threfall as he is serving a three-match suspension, which started last weekend. Whilst Dan Marshall has no problems in the suspension area, he will be looking at the fitness of several players who are close to returning following recent injuries.

The man in black for this game will be Mr James Ferguson. Mr Ferguson has issued five cautions in the two matches that he has been referee for (he has also been as Assistant Referee for another two games as well).

If you would like to follow the team, the address that you will need is Cressey's Corner, Green Lane, Featherstone, WF7 6LJ.
