Match Preview: Kippax FC

ree

Following the postponement against Featherstone Colliery last Saturday, Rangers are set to welcome Kippax FC to Barr Field as we begin the countdown of the final three games!

The match has a 2:30pm kick-off time and, unlike last week, there shouldn’t be a rain cloud in the sky as its forecast to be a warm afternoon with sunny intervals and a light wind!

Our visitors are on a purple patch at the moment and will be looking to make it seven games unbeaten on Saturday. They come into this match with five wins and a draw and will be hoping to chip away at the ten point lead that Newsome have over them.

On their travels, Kippax have recorded five wins, one draw and six defeats. They have managed to score 26 away goals, which is the lowest of the top six teams. They also have the unwanted record of conceding more goals than any other team in the top six, with 28 being the magic number.

The last time that the two teams met, it needed a late penalty from Charlie Yates to gain us a point after Kippax had taken the lead (see the match report here).

Charlie Yates scores our late equaliser when the two teams met in October 2018

The referee for this match is Mr Joe Moss. Mr Moss has officiated ten games this season, including our 3-2 win over Howden Clough in October 2018. He has added another four matches as assistant. In his solo games, he has issued 18 yellow cards and no red ones! We hope that our visit referee has a pleasant time whilst he is at Barr Field.

As ever, we would also like to extend a warm welcome to our visiting team, officials and supporters. The gates to the ground will be open from approximately 12:30pm and you are more than welcome to come and join us for a drink in our clubhouse. We will be serving our matchday special for just £2.50 per bottle, as well as a wide choice of both alcoholic and soft drinks for you to buy before, at half-time and after the game.

Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.

We are very pleased to announce that our Chairman Dan Jones will be sponsoring this match, we would like to thank Mr Jones for his generosity.
