Rangers travel over to Cookridge on Saturday, looking to make it three wins in a row as they take on Leeds Modernians. It’s a game that Daniel Marshall’s men really need to win to attempt to cut into the four point gap that Boroughbridge have opened up over us. The match has a 2:30pm kick-off time and the weather would appear to be light cloud and a slight breeze!
The last two games have seen us kick on since the 3-1 defeat against Newsome, and with the league starting to show a bit of shape now, we want to make sure that we keep in touch with the top pack. A defeat on Saturday would not only set us back in this area, but could see us potentially drop into eighth place however, a win could left us a spot into sixth.
Our hosts come into this match with just two wins from eight games and that is something that they will be desperate to remedy against us. On their home ground, they have won once, drawn twice and lost twice. A 6-2 victory against Rothwell has contributed to a total of 9 goals scored at Cookridge Lane (avg. 1.8 goals scored per game) whilst they have conceded 12 (avg. 2.4 goals conceded per game). Danny Forrest is their main goal scorer at present with three strikes to his name. Over the last week, Leeds Mods have added some quality to their squad with the signings of ex Bradford City midfielder Scott Kerr and former Halifax Town frontman Kevin Sanasy, both of who made their debuts during the recent 1-1 draw with Otley Town.
A look at the list of suspended players shows no problems for either teams. However, as has been the case in recent weeks, serval Rangers players still remain on the injury list, although this is starting to show signs of becoming less, which can only be beneficial to both Dan and Kris Macdonald!
The referee for this game is Mr Jon Pearson. Mr Pearson last took charge of a Division One match on the 22nd August when he officiated Hall Green United’s 2-0 win over Kippax FC. In all, he has been the man in black three times this season and the stats would seem to indicate that he has shown the yellow card five times (all in one match) and brandished no red cards.
If you would like to go watch the team play, then the address you will need is Cookridge Lane, Leeds, LS16 7ND.
