We may have started this campaign with a 7-2 victory against Oxenhope, but Manager Dan Marshall is under absolutely no illusions that lightning will strike twice at Barr Field on Saturday. In a recent interview, the Gaffer stated “It’s not going to be another 7-2 to us, that’s for certain! They are one of the inform teams at the moment. I’m expecting a tough game, but we will be up for it.”
The game has a 2:30 kick-off and it seems that it may be played against a backdrop of sunny intervals and a gentle breeze!
Our visitors didn’t have the best of starts to this season, but as the boss mentioned, they have certainly pulled their socks up, moved out of the relegation zone and into tenth place. Their recent form also bears witness to their transformation and they come into this game on a run of three wins and looking for a fourth against us!
On their travels they are pretty evenly spread with four wins, two draws and three defeats. They have found the target 22 times, which is the highest away scoring record in the bottom eight of the table. They are also pretty tight in defence with the sixth best away record in the entire league, conceding just 20 so far! Their man who can, according to the F.A. is Lee Reily who has scored 18 goals (9 in the league). He is being chased by Daniel Moriarty who has 17 to his name (14 in the league).
As previously mentioned, we enjoyed an excellent opening day win with goals coming from Danny Grannon (2), Sam Straker, Josh Barden, Josh Buckley, Roman Neal and Jack Cheetham. You can find the Match Report here.
The referee for this game will be Mr Josh Brayshaw. So far, he has officiated 8 games and assisted in another four. In his games, he has issued four yellow cards and no red ones. We hope that Mr Brayshaw has a pleasant time whilst he is with us at Barr Field.
We would also like to wish our visiting team, their fans and officials a pleasant journey to and from our ground. The gates will be open from around 12:30pm and you are more than welcome to come and join us for a drink in our clubhouse. We will be serving our matchday special for just £2.00 per bottle, and there will also be a great range of both alcoholic and soft drinks for you to buy before, at half-time and after the game.
Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.
