Match Preview: Robin Hood Athletic

Updated: Oct 26, 2018

Match Preview Graphic
Rangers face a stern test at Premier Division side Robin Hood Athletic on Saturday.

It’s a tough second round West Yorkshire League Cup match in store for our First Team as we make the journey to The Coach & Horses ground, which is home to Premier League side Robin Hood Athletic. The contest has a 2:30pm kick-off time and the weather over in Rothwell should be cool and clear.

Last Saturday’s absence from the football pitch has been both a blessing and a curse for Manager Dan Marshall as he would like to have kept the squad sharp with game time but, it has allowed several players to recover from minor knocks that they have received in recent games, so hopefully the Gaffer will have a strong contingent to choose from.

Our hosts reached this stage of the competition by way of a bye in the first round and interestingly, although they are currently in the mid-table area of their division, residing in 9th position (out of 16), they have only won one game at home this season, which was in the West Riding County Challenge Cup (although they did hand out a 5-1 stuffing to Sherburn White Rose!) so hopefully we will be able to use their erratic form to our benefit! Saying that however, we are under no illusion to the challenge that Robin Hood will pose and know only too well that we will have to be at our best to beat them if we want to get through to the 3rd round.

Taking charge of this game is Mr Gary Jones. This will be Mr Jones’s seventh time in the middle this season, with a couple of games as an Assistant Referee thrown in as well. As the Referee, he has shown 3 yellow cards during these matches, and no reds yet!

Should you wish to watch this game, then the address that you will need is The Coach & Horses, Wakefield Road, Rothwell Haigh, Leeds LS26 0SF.
