Over the past few days, we were devastated to hear of the passing of Paul Fenton.
‘Fenny”, as he was affectionately known to many, was a bit part of the club’s history and came to play for us after starting at Harrogate Town. As well as playing during our Harrogate & also played during our first spell in the West Yorkshire Leagues.
Paul returned to the club as Assistant Manager, alongside Dan Jones, to Dan Marshall and oversaw much success, including the Harrogate & District League Challenge Cup win over Thirsk Falcons at Otley Town in 08-09, the double win in 11/12, and also the famous treble three years later.
As well as coaching, Paul was always ready to share his knowledge and passion for the game. He influenced many people who were starting their coaching paths, including our own Ben Lawrence.
Away from football, Paul was a teacher and was widely respected by all who knew him. He also loved his rugby league, especially watching both his grandson and Castleford Tigers.
Rest in peace Paul.
All your friends at Kirk Deighton Rangers AFC.
