Our first team head over to The Sports Pavilion in Boroughbridge tonight looking not only for their second win of the season, but the chance to get a bit of revenge for our Reserve side who lost 3-2 at the same venue on Monday. Kick-off for the game is 6:30pm and a look at the weather shows a cloudy night in store!
Following the epic 7-2 opening day win over Oxenhope last Saturday, the lads are in high confidence, but the management team will be making sure that they pay attention to tonight’s opponents, who are always a tricky side to play at the best of times.
Our hosts put up a great fight during their first fixture against Hartshead on Saturday but came up just short losing 3-2. David Cummins and Chris Simpson were their goalscorers, but they have a quality team and will be a danger all over the park.
Last season, Boroughbridge finished in 8th place with 47 points from a possible 84. At home, they gained 27 of those points, courtesy of eight wins and three draws. Scoring seemed to be a problem for them as they managed 28 (avg. 2.0 goals per game) which was the 11th lowest of the home records, but they did make up for it with a mean defence, that was only bettered by the top two teams, which conceded just 15 (avg. 1.1 goals per game).
The referee for his game will be Mr Mick Spicer. Mr Spicer took charge of the Howden Clough v Otley Town match on Saturday which ended as 1-1 draw. The referee appeared to have a busy tie, handing out a yellow card to each side, but sending off Howden's Andrew Griffiths.
