Preview: Hall Green United

Match Preview Graphic
Can Rangers pick up their first win in four games.

Following a bit of dip in form that has resulted in just two points from a possible nine, Rangers will be looking to pick up their first win in four games this Saturday, but to do it, they will have to overcome a stern test in the shape of Hall Green United. The match is home game and has a 2pm kick-off scheduled. A look at the forecast shows mixed weather again with light showers and a gentle breeze throughout the game.

Manager Daniel Marshall was pleased with how his side played during the 1-1 draw against Otley Town last Saturday, but admitted that his side can and will do a lot better. A win against Hall Green would keep us in 5th place, but with a ten point lead between us and first place Aberford Albion, any slip ups by the four teams above us, could see gaps closed down dramatically.

At present, Hall Green United have amassed 34 points from a possible 45. Away from their Crigglestone Sports Club home, they are one of only two remaining clubs in the league who have yet to lose on their travels, the other being Aberford. Over the eight away games that they have played, they have been on the winning side five times, with three draws also thrown in. Goals wise, they have scored an impressive 25 times (avg. 3.1 goals per game) whilst conceding 13 (avg. 1.6 goals per game). To top all this as well, they also have the leagues leading goal scorer in their ranks as well with Tom Fowler, who has hit 17 goals so far.

One player that will definitely be missing this game is Hall Green’s Lee McGarth, who is serving a three match suspension. However, they will be welcoming back Liam Dyson following his three match ban. On the Rangers side, whilst we have no suspensions to worry about, both Marshall, David Campbell and Ben Lawrence will be seeing how several injuries to their squad are coming on.

The referee for this game is Mr John Murray. Mr Murray has taken the whistle four times this season, with another six appearances as an assistant referee. In the four matches that he was been in charge of, he has issued five yellow cards, but no reds. We hope that Mr Murray, along with all of the Hall Green United players, officials and fans have a pleasant time whilst they are with us at Barr Field.

The gates to the ground will be open at around 12:30pm and our club house will be serving a great selection of both alcoholic and soft drinks. Keep an eye out for our match day special, which is only £2 a bottle.

Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a very worthy cause, we will also have our Prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also pick up your own, very trendy, Prostate Cancer UK pin badge for just a pound (or two!) from the bar.

We are still on the lookout for match sponsor for this game, so if you, or your business would like to get involved and get your logo/brand known to our supporters, please let our media officer Pete Arnett know by clicking here. For just £25.00, it’s a great way to get involved and become our of our partners.
