It’s the start of a new footballing week for our teams when Harrogate and District Premier side Kirkby Malzeard visit Barr Field on Tuesday (kick-off 7pm) in what will be a tough encounter for our Reserves side.
Some players have already tasted action in the recent 4-2 win over Harrogate Old Boys, whilst others will be champing at the bit to get on the pitch and show Manager Kris Macdonald and his coaching staff what they do!
Our visitors finished third in the Colin Lowe Memorial Premier Division last season and will certainly be looking to try and better this during the new campaign. On their travels, they suffered slightly, winning half of their twelve games (the others ended in four defeats and two draws). A look at the stats also show us that they hit 29 goals away from their “The Green” ground (avg 2.4 goals per game) whilst conceding 26 (avg 2.2 per game).
In total, Malzeard, who were founded in 1971, scored 64 league goals last season and Rangers will have to be wary of Glenn Lyons and Ash Buckley (if they play), who contributed 30 of these.
Over the years, we have met Malzeard many times with the last match between the two being a Senior Cup tie which was played on the 28th January 2017. The score ended 3-1 in our favour with Joe Wilks scoring a brace and Luke Dubery adding the other. Jonathan Raddon was the lone scorer for Malzeard.
Please come down and support the teams, if you are traveling over from Ripon, we hope that you have a decent journey and enjoy our hospitality. The club house will be open and serving an impressive range of beverages, both alcoholic and soft for your enjoyment.
