Preview - Pool AFC

Pool AFC Match Graphic
Dan Marshall's men will be looking to get maximum points on Saturday!

We have some superb West Yorkshire League One action at Barr Field this Saturday when Pool AFC visit. The match has a 2:30pm kick-off time and with a mixed bag of weather forecast, it may be wise to bring an umbrella with you, just in case!

Following our 3-1 defeat at the hands of Newsome last weekend, Manager Dan Marshall wasn’t a happy man, especially with the news that we have lost the services of winger Jonny Hadley for a few months. However, the gaffer will be looking for an instant reply this coming game and will be hoping that his team can put Pool to the sword and pick up our first win in three matches in the process!

Our visitors currently sit one place below us in eighth position, just one point adrift, so a win for both teams is vital to move up the table. Should we be successful in gaining all three points, we could (other results in our favour) jump into third place, whilst a defeat would see us potentially drop into eleventh place!

On the road, Pool have recorded one win, draw and defeat. Their only success came against Otley Town (2-0) whilst they also picked up a point against Newsome (1-1) but succumbed to Hartshead 1-0. Goals wise, they have scored three times on their travels (avg. 1 goal per game) and conceded two (avg. 0.67 goals per game). Looking at the FA stats, Joshua Wagstaff is their leading goalscorer with four strikes to his name already.

A reconnoitre at the “Suspended Players” list shows that both teams have no issues in this area however, Dan will still be without several players who picked up injuries in recent weeks.

The official for this match will be Mr Brandon Blackham. This will be Mr Blackham’s third match in sole charge and his first time as the man in the middle during one of our games. Looking at his previous form during these contests, he has not issued a single card so far (although this may just be an omission on the FA website). We hope that Mr Blackman has a pleasant time whilst he is with us at Barr Field.

The ground will be open from around 1pm and we wish all supporters and visiting officials/players a safe journey to and from us. Our clubroom will be open and serving a good range of alcoholic and soft drinks at a superb price, so please take advantage.

Please come and support local football, everyone is guaranteed a warm welcome.
