Its been a busy week for Rangers with two games already and we round off the seven days with a cracker of a match against Steeton AFC on Saturday, Kick-Off 2:30pm. A look ahead at the projected weather shows that it could be a mixed bag with light cloud, sun and rain showers all forecast!
The first team enjoyed a 1-0 victory over Tadcaster Magnets on Tuesday, whilst our reserves had a 3-1 win under their belts against Kirkby Malzeard on Thursday, however tomorrow’s match will be a very different challenge as we welcome a team set to start a new adventure of their own!
Having been members of The West Riding County Amateur League for over 30 years, Steeton have moved leagues and will now playing the newly formed North West Counties Hallmark Security League Division One North. They also have a new home, now playing at Cougar Park, home of Keighley Cougars.
Last season, they finished in third spot with 49 points from a possible 66. On the road, they had a good record of 8 wins, 1 draw and just 2 defeats. Goal wise, they scored 28 (avg. 2.5 goals per game) whilst they had the meanest defence away from home, conceding just 16 (avg. 1.5 goals per game). Looking at the stats page, Andrew Briggs and Ben Clarkson manged to finish in 4th and 6th place respectively in the league goalscoring charts with an impressive haul of 18 and 15 apiece.
The gates will be open from 1:30pm and all are welcome to come down. Please come and support local football and don’t forget to have a drink in our clubhouse. We sell a wide range of drinks (both alcoholic and soft) so we should have something to please your tastebuds!
We hope that Steeton AFC and their fans have a pleasant journey over to Barr Field and we look forward to seeing you.
