Rangers v Headingley AFC Match Preview.

ree

Wednesday evening brings West Yorkshire Premier side Headingley AFC to Barr Field, in what will be another tough game for Dan Marshall’s side.

Kick-Off is 7pm and the forecast is for a cloudy evening with occasional sunny intervals and a temperature of around 16 degrees C.

Headingley AFC

Our opponents escaped relegation from the Premier league last season by the virtue of goal difference as they finished fourth from bottom, but had a difference of four goals over Rawdon Old Boys.

As has been the case for a few seasons, it was the goals of Ashley Austin that helped Headingley, as the well-respected hitman gained another nineteen to add to an already impressive total that he has.

Head To Head

The database doesn’t reveal any previous competitive meetings between the two teams, but as it isn’t complete, this could be wrong. We have, however, met before in a pre-season match last season when a Roman Neal goal cancelled out a first half opener by the visitors (see match report here).

Team News For Rangers

Marshall will be hoping to field a strong team for this match, as it will present a very good yardstick that Rangers will use to analyse their squad strength and tactics. Saying that, it is expected that both the Manager and First Team Coach Ben Lawrence will want to view several players, possibly including the trio of Harvey Ribbons, Sam Monaghan and Liam Dean who all impressed in the first pre-season game against Yorkshire Amateur AFC.

What About Headingley?

They haven’t given much away on their Social Media pages, but like us, have been hard at work in pre-season training. It is expected that they will bring a very tough squad for this game, so it should be a cracking match between two footballing sides.

Following The Game.

Unfortunately, due to work commitments, there will not be our regular social media updates from this game.

The gates will be open from around 6pm, and all are welcome to Barr Field. Our club house will be serving a wide range of beverages for your enjoyment at a great price before, at half-time and after the final whistle.

Please come down and support the teams, and hopefully we will be able to reward you with a win!
