Rangers v Steeton AFC Match Preview

ree

Buoyed by their midweek success over West Yorkshire Premier side Headingley AFC, Rangers welcome another tough test this Saturday as Northern West Counties Division One team Steeton AFC come to Barr Field.

The match has a 3pm kick-off and will hopefully be played in good conditions as sunny intervals and temperatures of around 18 degrees C are forecast.

The Opposition.

We know from playing Steeton last pre-season that they are a quality outfit and will present the kind of challenge that our Management trio want. They finished their inaugural season in the Northern West Counties Division One in 15th place (out of 20) and whilst some people may not see this as an achievement, it shows the level that Steeton have reached over the years, and without doubt, they will climb even higher, especially with Roy Mason in charge, who is a very experienced Manager.

In their ranks, they have a multitude of talented and experienced players that can cause damage all over the pitch. They even have a semi familiar face in Sam Moore, who used to keep goal for our neighbours Wetherby Athletic!

Head To Head.

Just like our other Pre-Season matches so far, it appears that the two clubs haven’t met in a competitive match, however, as mentioned before, we did play them last season in a friendly and it was goals galore as our visitors just pipped us in a 4-3 win (read the match report here)

Team News For Rangers.

We hope to be seeing a few more faces this weekend as the Management look to try different things. Josh Bhandal, made his first appearance against Headingley AFC and we may see him feature again, whilst youngsters Harvey Ribbons, Sam Monaghan and Liam Dean may also feature.

What about Steeton AFC?

They fielded a very strong side in their recent 2-2 draw against Thackley AFC, with goals coming from Jack Richmond and Ben Clarkson, and we expect that a similar strength side will line up against us.

Following The Game.

We will have a full social media presence for this match, so if you cannot make the game, please watch our Twitter feed for updates and photos etc.

The gates will be open from around 2:15pm, and all are welcome to Barr Field. Our club house will be serving a wide range of beverages for your enjoyment at a great price before, at half-time and after the final whistle.

Please come and give two footballing sides your support. All fans and officials from Steeton AFC are welcome and we hope that everyone has a pleasant journey to and from our ground.
