Our Second Team take a break from league action tomorrow as they travel to Batley to play Birstall Rovers FC in the first round of the West Riding Challenge Trophy.
The game's start time is 2 pm, and it may be an idea to bring an umbrella as the weather is forecast to be rather wet!
The Opposition.
Birstall Rovers reformed for a second time in 2020 after folding a year earlier due to players leaving to go to University. However, they can trace their history back to the 1950s until they disbanded in the late 1960s, only to reform in 2014.
Members of the Yorkshire Amateur Association Football League 3rd Division, Birstall are currently in tenth position. They have drawn two of their four games and have lost the other two. Goals wise they have scored three and conceded nine.
Past Meetings.
Our database doesn't show any meetings between the two sides, so this looks like the first time we have met.
Squad News.
Assistant Manager John-Paul Williams will be in charge of this match, and he hopes to have a few more of this squad available then was against Hunslet Club Reserves. That said, youngsters Matthew Lurcock and Sam Briggs did impress when they came off the bench, so they may well feature again.
Match Official.
Mr Peter Binks is the referee for this game.
Venue.
If you wish to come and watch this game, the address is Batley Grammar School, Carlinghow Hill, Batley WF17 0AD.
