Our first team begin their Premier Division campaign tonight when we welcome Boroughbridge AFC to Barr Field.
The match starts at 6:30 pm, and the trust MET weather app indicates it should be a clear and sunny evening.
The Opposition
Boroughbridge obtained their Premier Division status at the end of the 2018/19 season when they won the Division One title by seven points. In their first season, before Covid hit, they were in twelfth position. During last season’s mini-league, they finished runners up to winners Beeston.
They started this season with a 2-2 draw against Hunslet Club courtesy of goals from Phil Wix and Jack Herring. Souring this point, however, was the sending off of Alex Ingham.
Past Meetings.
The last time the two teams met at Barr Field was the 30th of March 2019, when Boroughbridge twice came from behind to win 4-2.
Overall, our database indicates at least six meetings between us both. We have one win compared to Bridge’s five. Interesting to note is that there has been no 0-0 draws between the two teams!
Player News.
Manager Dan Marshall hopes to have a good pool of players to choose a strong squad out of. Joe Palmer may continue in goal, but if not, it could see the return of Jonty Smith.
Match Officials.
For the first time, we will have Both a referee and linemen with Gerald Surman, Haim Fiterman and Stuart Ramsden coming to Barr Field. We hope that they all have a pleasant time while they are with us.
