Saturday the 2nd January sees us return to West Yorkshire League action (weather permitting) when we travel to play Glasshoughton Rock (2 pm kick-off).

Ahead of this meeting at the Townville Recreation and Sports Club, we take a look at the teams, history of the fixture, and statistics.

Glasshoughton Rock.

Our hosts have an advantage over us having managed to get back on the pitch to play a couple of games following lockdown. They picked up a handy 2-0 win against Pool AFC but recently left Featherstone on the end of a 6-3 defeat.

At home, Glasshoughton's record reads a win, a draw and defeat. They have scored four goals and conceded three. Consistently scoring goals seems to be an issue for our hosts, and we will have to watch Josh Prudhoe, whose brace against Featherstone took him to the top of Glasshoughton's goal-scoring charts, and will also have improved his confidence in front of goal.

The history books will officially show this is the first meeting between the two clubs. However, in the abandoned 19/20 season, we drew this fixture 2-2 with goals from Ashley Tatler.

A victory in this game could lift either team into 8th position, as we occupy 10th (us) and 12th (Glasshoughton) respectively.

Two players who will miss this game are Josh Bhandal and Glasshoughton's Reece Sheldon who are both serving bans.

The Referee.

Mr Ian Smellie takes control of this match which will be his sixth game overall this season. So far, he appears to have issued 15 yellow cards and three red.
