Aiming for an instant reply after the defeat against Headingley AFC, Rangers welcome Knaresborough Town Reserves to Barr Field for the Quarter-Final of the West Yorkshire League Cup this Saturday.
We are pleased to announce that we have a matchday sponsor for this game. Thank you to Geoff Cheetham for his generosity.
The kick-off is 2:30 pm, and a look at the MET weather forecast shows that it should be a sunny afternoon, perfect for high-quality football!
Our Opponents.
Having met Knaresborough in both league encounters this season, we know that they are a quality opposition who are tough to beat.
They are currently in sixth place in the league, having won 12 games, drawing three and losing 11. They have scored 56 times (averaging 2.6 goals per game) and conceded 54 times (averaging 2.1 goals per game).
Knaresborough's recent form has taken a bit of a dip, and they find themselves winless in six matches, although their last game saw them hold Horbury Town to a 2-2 draw.
In the League Cup, they have seen off the challenges of Gomersal & Cleckheaton and, more recently, Headingley AFC to reach the Quarter-Finals.
Liam Edmondson leads their goalscoring charts with 13 goals in 23 games.
Previous Meetings.
As alluded to earlier, we have already met before this season with a 2-2 draw and 2-1 defeat the outcome.
Our database shows that we have faced Knaresborough Town Reserves at least eight times. However, we have only won once, beating Town 3-0 in the Whitworth Cup 1st Round in 2016.
Squad News.
With eight players absent against Headingley AFC, manager Dan Marshall will hope that some of them are back for this game. There may be some late fitness tests run on several before the final line-up is known.
One player who will be absent is centre-back Luke Dubery who is still recovering from an injury picked up against Gomersal.
Match Officials.
Mr Peter Creagh, Mr Michael Connell, and Mr Fotios Skoutas are the officials for this game, and we hope they have a pleasant time at Barr Field.
Media.
Our media team will be present at this match. Please see our Twitter feed for match updates.
Clubhouse.
Please come and enjoy the hospitality in our clubhouse. We have a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including a new range of tea, coffee and soup, all for an excellent price.
We will also have our new 'KDRAFC Sweets & Treats' Tuck Shop. Caitlin is the young lady to see, as she has a superb range of sweets and chocolate to purchase before, during and after the game. The perfect thing to aid in post-match sugar replacement therapy!
You can also have a go at winning a fantastic selection of meat in our meat raffle. Tickets cost just £1.00, and will be drawn at the end of the match.
