Preview: Wetherby Athletic Reserves

It's a vital match for our Second team on Saturday as they look to keep the pressure on leaders Leeds Modernians and secure a top-two place.

With just two games left to achieve this, we face off against our local rivals Wetherby Athletic Reserves on Saturday at The Ings (KO 2:30 pm).

Due to events outside our control, our media team will not be present at this match. We will, however, bring you the result as quickly as we can.

The Opposition.

Wetherby Athletic are currently in 5th position in the league table with 14 points from a possible 27. A big win at the weekend could move them up into 4th if Tingley also suffer a large defeat, but this is the highest that they can go.

At home, the Tangerines have yet to win a game, suffering three defeats from four games. Their only point on their turf came courtesy of a 4-4 draw against Tingley Athletic Reserves.

Leading the way in Wetherby's goalscoring chart with an impressive eight goals so far is Daniel Ajibona.

Previous Meetings.

The last time the two teams met was when we both played in the Harrogate & District league. On that particular day (2nd December 2017), Wetherby ran out 3-0 winners!

The Referee.

Mr Richard Douglas is in charge of this match. This game will be his eighth this season and includes our 2-0 win over Overthorpe Sports Club Reserves in April.

According to the FA Full Time system, Mr Douglas has issued eight yellow cards and one red since the season restarted.

Team News.

Manager Kris Macdonald welcomes back striker Liam Dean into his matchday squad following an injury that kept the youngster sidelined for several weeks. However, he is without defender Ben Challenger who is unable to take part in this game.
