Our First-Team turn their attention to the Whitworth Cup this Saturday as we welcome Harrogate Railway Reserves to Barr Field for what is sure to be a smashing semi-final!
The match has a 2 pm kick-off, but with all the inclement weather we may have, please keep watching our social media channels and website for up-to-date match info. At present, the weather is forecast to be heavy rain, so wellington boots and umbrellas may be in order!
We are pleased to announce that both Hunters (Wetherby Branch) and Bar Three are sponsoring this match, and we thank them both for their kindness.
Our Opponents.
Harrogate Railway Athletic Reserves play in the West Yorkshire League Second Division, having moved from the Harrogate & District League at the beginning of the 2019/2020 campaign.
Our visitors are in sixth place (out of eleven) in the league table, having gained 23 points from a possible 39. They have won seven games, drawn two and lost four.
They have scored 37 times this season (averaging 2.8 goals per game). They have the joint meanest defence in our division, conceding just 25 times (averaging 1.9 goals per game).
Gabe Hopinkson leads their goalscoring charts with eight strikes to his name. Behind him in second place is Harry Boyer with seven.
In the cup, they have beaten Harlow Hill 1-0 to set up this tie.
Previous Meetings.
Our database shows at least five meetings between the two sides since December 1972, when we lost 3-1. Out of these five games, we have won once, and that was in the Whitworth Cup First Round in 2008.
Squad News.
This competition is one that Manager Dan Marshall has set his sights on winning, so it will be a strong squad that he picks. Striker Adam Carter will be in contention for a place, and fellow forward Ash Tatler will be looking to hit the 15 goal mark for the season.
With no injuries sustained during the Headingley AFC game last weekend, the Gaffer has a good pool of players to pick out his strongest squad.
Match Officials.
At present, we haven't been told who the match official for this game is. However, we hope that whoever it is has a pleasant time at Barr Field.
Media.
Our media team will be present at this match. Please see our Twitter feed for match updates.
Clubhouse.
Please come and enjoy the hospitality in our clubhouse. We have a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including a new range of tea, coffee and soup, all for an excellent price.
We will also have our new 'KDRAFC Sweets & Treats' Tuck Shop. Caitlin is the young lady to see, as she has a superb range of sweets and chocolate to purchase before, during and after the game. The perfect thing to aid in post-match sugar replacement therapy!
You can also have a go at picking the hidden team on our popular Football Card. If you are the winner, a cash prize awaits! Funds raised by each card are split between the club and the winner.
