Altofts FC Reserves v Kirk Deighton Rangers Reserves Match Preview.

ree

The tough games keep on coming for our Reserves as Kris Macdonald takes his side to play Altofts this Saturday in the West Yorkshire Alliance Division 2.

The match has a 2 pm kick-off, and three points are vital if our Reserves want to stay right on leaders Ilkley Town's heals.

A look at the weather shows that sunny intervals with some cloud are forecast.

The Opposition.

Altofts lie in 6th position in the league coming into this match. They have a well-deserved reputation of being a difficult team to beat, and as other clubs have found this season, they are capable of beating anyone on their day.

At their Altofts Community Sports Club home, they have won four of the seven games that they have played, with their latest being a 2-0 victory over Brighouse Sports Club.

Goals wise, Altofts have scored 18, which averages 2.6 goals scored per home match. They have a pretty mean defence as well, conceding ten goals, which averages 1.4 goals conceded per home match.

Rangers will go into this match with a 100% win record away from Barr Field, and a further three points (should we get them) could propel us into the top spot. A defeat, however, could see us drop a place while Altofts could climb into fifth place.

Head To Head.

Although this will be the first time that the two teams have met this season, we have played each other a further four times since our return to the West Yorkshire leagues.

The results of these encounters show that we have beaten Altofts on three occasions with the pick of the results being a 5-0 win at Barr Field on the 30th April 2018 (goals came from Vito D'Avanzo and Joe Turley with two each and one from Phil Turner).

The last time that we met at Altofts was the 16th February 2019 when goals from Chris Plews, Vito D'Avanzo and Jake Little secured us a 3-0 win.

Team News For Rangers.

Following his sending off against Huddersfield Amateur last Saturday, Jonny Atkinson will be unavailable for this match. This may well see Sam Murphy start at right-back in his place.

The Man In The Middle.

The referee for this game is Mr Ian Preston. This is Mr Preston's eighth goal in charge this season with another two as Assistant Referee.

In his seven outings, he has, according to the FA website, issued five yellow cards and sent one player to the sin-bin. As of yet, Mr Preston has had no need to take out his red card, and we hope that continues on Saturday.

Following The Game.
