Hampsthwaite United v Rangers Res Match Preview.

ree

Saturday lunchtime sees our Reserves start their Pre-Season campaign when they travel to St John Fisher to take on Hampsthwaite United FC.

The match has a 12pm kick-off and should provide Kris Macdonald’s side with a very decent test.

Hampsthwaite United

Our opponents are a very well-known and respected side in local football and boast a very high pedigree in players and skill. They have just been accepted back into the Harrogate & District Association Football League for next season, and will play their football in the Jan Sinker Memorial Division One.

Last season they finished 5th in the Wharfedale Triangle Premier Division and have also had recent spells in the West Yorkshire Association Football League Division 2 and Harrogate & District Football League Premier Division. They also have a team in the Harrogate FleXI 11 a side League.

Head to Head.

There have been quite a few meetings between Rangers and United over the years as when we were playing football in the Harrogate & District league, it was a regular fixture. The last time that the two reserves met was 29th October 2016 when we ran out 3-1 winners. A year later, on the 25th April 2017, the two first teams met at Barr Field and it ended with Rangers celebrating a 5-1 win.

Team News For Rangers.

Manager Kris Macdonald isn’t giving much away before tomorrow, but it is known that some of the team that played in Thursday’s match against Yorkshire Amateur AFC will feature. Macdonald may also give the young trio of Liam Dean, Harvey Ribbons and Sam Monaghan, who all impressed against the “Ammers”, some more game time as well.

What About United?

We expect that Hampsthwaite will have a good selection of players to pick from and will field a very tough team. Like us, they are also expected to play in a new kit, so at least both sides will look the business!

Following the Game.

Should you wish to watch the game, and both teams will be grateful for any support that you can give, it’s a shortish trip to St John Fisher in Harrogate. The full address is St John Fisher Catholic High School, Hookstone Drive, Harrogate HG2 8PT.

The pitch is located around the back of the main building and there is plenty of car parking available.
