Kirk Deighton Rangers Reserves v Old Centralians Reserves Match Preview.

With no game for the first-team, all eyes turn to the Reserves for the Saturday dose of Rangers football as they welcome Old Centralians Reserves to Barr Field for an Alliance League Two match.

The game will kick-off at 2 pm and the weather is forecast to be good, so hopefully, it's game on!

The Opposition.

On paper, this appears to be one of those matches where Rangers should win, however having played Old Centralians before, we know that they are a threat, and we will have to play well to get anything from the game, and this is the message that Manager Kris Macdonald will be relaying to his team before kick-off!

Going into this contest, our visitors sit in twelve place with eight points. Away from home, they have struggled and have yet to record a win. They have, however, picked up a point following a high scoring 5-5 draw with East End Park Reserves.

The goal stats show that Old Centralians have scored six times on their travels (averaging 0.9 goals scored per game) and have conceded thirty-nine (averaging 5.6 goals conceded per game).

Looking at the FA goalscorers chart, Rangers will need to keep a close eye on Arron Kouakou, as he has scored four times already.

Head To Head.

This is the second meeting this season between the two sides, and it took a penalty shoot-out last time to separate them after a 1-1 draw in the West Yorkshire League Trophy. Fortunately that day we came out on top, but it will serve as a reminder to Rangers not to underestimate their opponents.

We have played each other four times up to Saturday's match and, at present, we have yet to end up on the losing side, having won three and draw one.

Team News For Rangers.

With several players coming back from minor knocks, Manager Kris Macdonald should be able to name a strong squad. Newcomers Sam Murphy and Jack Barker have impressed in their opening games and will hopefully feature while Phil Turner continues to get game time under his belt following his injury that kept him out for quite a while.

The Man In The Middle.

Mr Colin Maltby will be at the helm for this match. This will be his sixth game in charge, and we have had Mr Maltby's company before against Rothwell Reserves and Pool AFC Reserves.

During his six games as a referee, he has issued one yellow and red card apiece.

As with any official, opposition team and fans who visit us, we hope that Mr Maltby has a pleasant and hassle-free time with us.
