We return back to the magic of the West Riding County Challenge Trophy this Saturday, as Kris Macdonald takes his squad to play Brighouse Sports FC in the 3rd round. Kick-off for this match is scheduled to be 2pm and, according to the BBC weather app, the game may well be accompanied by light showers throughout.
Last Saturday’s 3-0 win over East End Park Reserves brought up unbeaten match number seven in a row for the team, and they will be desperate to keep this impressive run going and try and reach the fourth round of this competition.
Standing in their way is Halifax & District Division One side Brighouse Sports. Currently residing in 5th (out of 9) place in their league, Brighouse have had a mixed bag of results on home soil, having won and lost two games apiece. They have managed to score 9 times (avg. 2.25 goals per game) whilst conceding 10 times (avg. 2.5 goals per game). In the last round, they beat Great Preston 7-1 to set up this tie with us.
Looking at the FA Stats for this league, our back line will need to keep a close eye on Connor Durkin who is their leading scorer so far with five goals to his name.
The referee for this game will be Mr Richard Asher. Mr Asher appears to have been the man in the middle for two matches this season and according to the stats, he is yet to issue either a yellow or red card!
