Match Preview: Harlow Hill Reserves

Match Graphic
Can the reserves make that last step into the final?

With the first team exiting their final cup competition on Wednesday evening, it now falls to the Reserve team to fly the flag for us in the Hulme Cup when we entertain Harrogate & District Division One side Harlow Hill Reserves in the Semi-Final! Kick-off for this game is at 2pm and the weather looks like being a bitter afternoon with occasional sunny intervals.

Our Reserves scored a morale boosting victory last week when they beat promotion rivals Ilkley Town Reserves 2-0. Of late, the team have produced some terrific displays of football and Player/Manager Kris Macdonald will be demanding nothing less then their best again as the squad looks to reach the final. However, the management structure know that they are against an opponent, who despite being in the lower reaches of their division, are more than capable of producing a result of their own.

At present, Harlow Hill Reserves sit in 8th place (out of 11) and don’t appear to travel that well, having lost all four away league games so far. They have struggled to score goals, hitting just five on the road (avg. 1.23 goals per game) whilst conceding 14 (avg. 3.5 goals per game).

In order to reach this stage in the competition, Harlow Hill defeated Harrogate Old Boys 2-1 with Craig Logan scoring a brace. Logan also shares Hill’s top scorer spot this season with Glenn Johnson, both notching three goals each at present.

The referee for this game will be Mr Rob Barker. He will be assisted by Mr Rich Haslam and Mr Martin Ingram. In his eight other matches in charge, it appears form the FA website that Mr Barker has issued 10 yellow cards and 2 reds, hopefully he won’t have to reach for any during this match. We hope that the officials, as well as travelling fans and Harlow Hill have a pleasant time whilst at Barr Field.

The gates to the ground will be opening from around 12:30pm and as normal, you are more than welcome to come and join us for a drink at our clubhouse. Our matchday special will be available for just £2.00 per bottle, and there is also a superb range of both alcoholic and soft drinks for you to buy before, at half-time and after the game.

Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.
