It’s Cup Final time tonight as both Rangers Reserves and Harrogate Railway Athletic Reserves contest the Hulme Cup at Manse Lane (home of Knaresborough Town AFC). The game kicks off at 7:30pm and we will, hopefully, have a pretty decent evening weather wise with light winds and temperatures of 15 degrees forecast.
Rangers will be looking to add some silverware to the trophy cabinet, and in doing so put the disappointment of missing out on promotion at the weekend well and truly behind them. However, to achieve this, they will have to beat one of the most established sides in local football and one that always have a good pedigree of player, no matter the level that they play.
Our opponents currently lie second in the Harrogate & District League 1, or the Jan Sinker Memorial Division One to give it its full title, but they may be pushed down a place by Kirkstall Crusaders who are on level points, but have a game in hand.
During their season, they have won 12 games, whilst losing six and are one of just two teams in the division not to have registered a draw throughout the season. Goals-wise, they have scored 67, which is the second highest in the league, whilst conceding just 26, which as it stands is the second lowest, so as can be seen, they are both powerful in attack and mean in defence, but we like a challenge!
Please come and support our lads as they look to finish the season on a high. Gates should be open by about 6:30pm, but please be aware that there is an entrance fee of £3 and £1 concessions.
