We welcome Kippax FC Reserves to Barr Field this Saturday aiming to avoid an unwanted trio of defeats on the bounce! The match kicks off at 2pm and the weather looks like bring a mixture of sunny intervals and light cloud. The temperature will still be a chilly 8-9 degrees C however, so wrap up warm.
With last weekends 3-1 defeat to Sherburn White Rose Reserves still grating, Player-Manager Kris Macdonald and his management team will be going all out to try and halt this mini slump and get us back on winning terms. The performances have been good during the last few games, but putting the ball in the back of the net has been the problem! If various results go our way, a win on Saturday could lift us back into third place, but a defeat could see us down a further place into 6th.
On the road, our visitors seem to have no problems in this area as they have scored 23 times, which makes them the second highest in the bottom seven, and the fourth overall in the league! To counterbalance this however, they have conceded 19, so at present have the record won 4, drawn 1 and lost 3 away from their Welfare Sports & Social Club ground. This, combined with their home record sees them reside in 9th place in the league. Looking at the FA stats, Kippax’s danger man is Brad Hoyle with a total of 14 goals (12 in the league) however, they have threats all over the pitch, so it won’t be an easy game for us.
The referee for this match is Hannah Cottam. This will be her second match of the season, and in her other game, she cautioned one player. We hope that Ms Cottam has a pleasant time whilst she is with is at Barr Field.
We would also like to wish our visiting team, their fans and officials a pleasant journey to and from our ground. The gates will be open from around 12:30pm and you are more than welcome to come and join us for a drink in our clubhouse. We will be serving our matchday special for just £2.00 per bottle, and there will also be a great range of both alcoholic and soft drinks for you to buy before, at half-time and after the game.
Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.
