This Saturday sees our Reserves travel to Kirkby Malzeard to play their reserves in the 2nd round of the Hulme Cup. This match has a 4pm kick-off time (Kirkby Malzeard first team are also in action at home at 2pm against Knaresborough Celtic) and the weather should be decent with sunny intervals throughout.
Kris Macdonald’s men enjoyed a good 2-0 win over Wyke Wanderers Reserves last weekend and they will be hoping to make it two victories in a row. On the other side, it’s been a couple of weeks since our opponents last played, but when they did, they beat Bardsey Reserves 2-0, so they will be a tough team to beat.
League wise, our hosts play in the Harrogate and District League Division One (known as the Jan Sinker Memorial Division) and are mid-table in 6th position. They have won and lost three games apiece, but their weakness seems to be in defence as they have a -13 goal difference. However, looking closer at their record, it shows that they are unbeaten at home (two wins from two games), scored five goals and conceded none!
The referee for this game is Mr Alan Martin. So far, Mr Martin has officiated three matches and it would appear from the stats on the FA website that he has only issued two yellow cards in these games.
