Match Preview: Otley Town Reserves

ree

Rangers Reserves travel over to the Old Showground at Otley on Saturday knowing that every game must be treated as a cup final as they hunt for those all-important points that will secure promotion.

The match has a 2:30pm kick-off time, and it should be played in decent conditions as its forecast to be sunny spells and light winds.

Following an amazing fightback against Ilkley Town Reserves last Saturday, culminating in Captain John Large scoring a 92nd minute equaliser in a thrilling 3-3 draw (see here for match report) Player/Manager Kris Macdonald will be doing everything in his power to keep his side totally focused over the last few games and avoid any more palpitations that the above score line gave those watching!

As has been the case in recent matches, our Reserves face another inform team as Otley Town will be looking to claim their sixth win in a row and move level on points with us. At home they have a mightily impressive record with just one defeat in ten games. They have scored 39 goals at home but have a very solid defence that has conceded just 9 at The Old Showground all season!

This is the second time that the two teams have met with Kirk Deighton enjoying a 2-1 win over Otley in November 2018.

A win for us could, if Boroughbridge fail to beat Rothwell Reserves, see us top the league. However, a defeat or draw could see us overtaken by Ilkley Town, if they beat Pool. Salts FC Reserves are on cup duty, so they won’t be a threat this week!

Taking control of this game is Mr Colin Woods. Over the course of the season so far, he has been the referee for five matches and has issued four yellow cards and a solitary red.

If you would like to watch this match, the address that you will need is The Old Showground, Pool Road, Otley, West Yorkshire, LS21 1DY.
