Match Preview: Salts FC Reserves

ree

This weekend sees a crucial game in the Reserves push for promotion as we welcome second placed Salts FC Reserves to Barr Field.

The game has a 2:30pm kick-off, and looking at the weather app, it seems like it will be a mixture of weather with light rain showers and sunny intervals being the backdrop!

This game could prove to be a decisive one in our quest to finish in the final three. At the moment, we are equal on points with Salts FC, but a goal difference of +4 separates the teams and if we could get a win, it would put the pressure right back on Salts to get a result with their game in hand.

Goals wise, as you would expect for a team pushing for the title, Salts have the highest away goalscoring record in the league with 35 strikes to their name. Their defence is also no slouch neither away from home, having the third best record in the division.

A win could see us move into top spot if Boroughbridge Reserves fail to beat Ilkley Town Reserves. As Ilkley could move into second place with all the points, let’s hope that they can do us a favour!

Both teams are suspension free, but like the first team, the Reserves picked up a few injuries during their 3-1 win over Old Centralians last Saturday and Kris Macdonald will run his eye over several players before deciding on his team.

Taking charge of this game is Ms Charlotte Phillips. Over the course of this season, she has taken charge of five matches, but also assisted in six others. So far, she has shown four yellow cards and no reds. We hope that Ms Phillips has a pleasant time whilst she is with us at Barr Field.

We would also like to extend a warm welcome to our visiting team, officials and supporters. The gates to the ground will be open from approximately 12:30pm and you are more than welcome to come and join us for a drink in our clubhouse. We will be serving our matchday special for just £2.00 per bottle, and there will also be a great range of both alcoholic and soft drinks for you to buy before, at half-time and after the game.

Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.
