Preview - Kippax Reserves

Match Preview Graphic
Can Kris Macdonald's side claim top spot?

This Saturday sees a serious chance for our Reserves team to be able to put some pressure on current leaders Salts Res, when they travel to play Kippax Reserves. Kick-off is 2:30pm and the weather seems to be a mixture of cloud and both sunny & rainy intervals throughout – so who knows!

At present, only three points separate Kris Macdonald’s side from top spot and with Kippax struggling in 11th place, this, on paper at least, looks like a great opportunity to try and close that gap, but this is football and we all know that when it comes to ninety minutes of the game, paper means nothing!

Our hosts have yet to win a game but have played one match less than most of the division. At their Kippax Welfare Sports & Social Club ground, they have gained a draw (2-2 v Sherburn White Rose) and been beaten 5-3 by Salts Reserves. Goals wise, they have scored 5 (avg. 2.5 goals per game) whilst they have conceded 7 (avg. 3.5 goals per game). The league stats show that Jay Clayton is the man to watch, as he is their leading scorer with 2 goals so far.

Following our 4-1 win over Wyke Wanderers last weekend, the squad is in great mood. Vito D'Avanzo will be looking to add to his 4-goal total, but we all know what tough opponents Kippax can be and Kris and his coaching staff will be making sure that the team are not complacent and will be totally focused on the job in hand.

A win for Rangers coupled with Salts losing against Otley Town could see us in top spot, but a defeat could see us drop into 5th place if other results go against us.

If you would like to go and watch this game, the address that you will need is Kippax Welfare Sports & Social Club, Longdike Lane, Kippax, Leeds, LS25 7BP
