Rangers Reserves v Brighouse Sports Old Boys Reserves Match Preview.

ree

Our Reserves finally get to start their season on Saturday when they welcome Brighouse Sports Old Boys to Barr Field.

Kick-Off is 2:30 pm and a glance at the Weather App shows that we might actually have a decent day for football, with Sunny intervals and a moderate breeze forecast!

The Opposition.

In essence, Brighouse Sports Old Boys are a new club, having been formed around June this year when both Brighouse Sports and Brighouse Old Boys merged, however followers of West Yorkshire league football will certainly know the names very well as they have been a powerful name in local football for many years.

Their first team are plying its trade in the West Yorkshire League Division Two, whilst their Reserves are playing in the Alliance Division Two. Their first match, played on Monday, ended in a 2-2 draw against Howden Clough Reserves, so that sees them in 6th place in the table coming into this game.

Head To Head.

Needless to say, this will be the first meeting between the two sides. It has all the promise of being a great game, as both sides share an attacking philosophy, that will hopefully see a few goals produced.

Team News For Rangers.

With Kris Macdonald looking to start the season off in the best way possible, it should be a strong squad that he names. However, there are several players recovering from pre-season injuries and some who are unavailable through work and over activities, so he is keeping his cards close to his chest until he runs his eye over a few players.

What About Brighouse Sports Old Boys?

It is anticipated that they will bring roughly the same team that played last Monday. That will give goalscorers Sam Durkin and Martin Newham chance to add to their total, hopefully they won’t, but Rangers will have to be wary of the threats that a new team looking to make their mark will bring!

The Man In The Middle.

The referee for this match will be Mr Darren De Souza. This is Mr De Souza’s second game of the season as he was also in charge of Harrogate Railway Athletic v Ripon City match, which saw his issue one yellow card and send one player to the Sin-Bin.

We hope that Mr De Souza has a pleasant and hassle-free time whilst at Barr Field.

Following The Game.

The gates will be open at around 1.30 pm and all fans from both teams are guaranteed a warm welcome. Our clubhouse will be pulling pints and serving a wide range of beverages (both alcoholic and soft) so everyone can enjoy a drink, Pre, at half-time and after the referee has brought things to a close!

We will also have a matchday special drinks offer on, so please see the noticeboard near the bar for more details.

Also, if you have any spare pennies and would like to donate them to a great cause, we will also have our prostate Cancer UK collection boxes around the clubhouse. You can also buy one of their great Men United Pin Badges for a pound (or two!) from these boxes as well.

We will also be presenting our first Kirk Deighton Rangers Bar Three Man Of The Match award after the game, so please stick around for that as well.
