Wetherby Athletic Reserves v Rangers Reserves Match Preview.

Tonight, our Reserves make the short hop over to The Ings to take on Wetherby Athletic Reserves, in the final Pre-Season match before Kris Macdonald’s men start their season in earnest on Saturday.

The match has a 7 pm kick-off time, and potential thundery showers and light winds are forecast!

The Opposition.

After a season’s hiatus, Wetherby have reformed their Reserves and been accepted into the Harrogate & District Division One. Their opening match takes place on the 22nd August when they travel to play Burley Trojans First.

During Pre-Season, results haven’t gone Wetherby’s way with a recent 9-0 defeat coming against Malt Shovel and a 6-1 loss to Tadcaster Magnets Reserves, but as they are a newly formed side, it will take time for them to gel and from all accounts, when they do, they have quite a formidable team!

Head To Head.

Over the years, both clubs have played each other (both Reserves and First Teams) countless times in the Harrogate & District league. However, with both sides fielding different names in their squads alongside some very familiar faces, it could be quite an interesting game that unfolds at The Ings!

Team News For Rangers.

With our First Team also in action tonight, there should be a good opportunity for players to be able to get game time in one of the matches. Kris Macdonald should have a strong pool of players to choose from and it should provide some valuable pre-season fitness, and an opportunity for several players all knocking on the door come that first league game on Saturday.

What About Wetherby Athletic?

Not much is known about what team they will start with, but it will be a competitive one as they will not want to lose to us!
