Wyke Wanderers Res v Kirk Deighton Rangers Res Match Preview.

Following an unexpected break due to Mother Nature! League action continues as Kris Macdonald takes his team over to Whitechapel Road to face Wyke Wanderers.

The game is scheduled to kick-off at 2 pm and a look at the weather forecast shows mostly rain, with a few sunny breaks in store.

The Opposition.

At present, Wyke lie in 9th place in the table with 10 points from a possible 27. At home, they have subjected to some pretty torrid score-lines having been beaten 8-0 by Huddersfield Amateur Res (although this was in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup) and more recently 7-1 by East End Park Reserves.

This more recent defeat seems to fall under the “freak” category as they have, on home soil, picked up impressive wins against Kippax and, in the last few weeks, Altofts.

Goals wise, The Wanderers have scored 9 pm at Whitechapel Road (avg. 1.5 goals scored per home game). Looking at the table, Wyke’s main problem seems to be with keeping clean sheets having failed, so far, to keep any, conceding the highest amount of home goals with 26 being placed past them at present (avg. 4.3 goals conceded per home game).

A look at the FA Stats for the Alliance Division Two shows that Rangers will have to be wary of goal threats from all over the Wyke side as Ashley Andrews, Connor Gray, Hoi Pin Truong, Kai Green, and Waqas Iqbal, who have all struck twice so far this season.

Head To Head.

This is the first meeting between the two teams this season, but last season saw us do the double over them with this corresponding fixture ending in a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Daley Johnson and Jake Little.

Overall, we have three wins compared to Wyke’s one in all our meetings. One thing to note is that there are always goals in these meetings with 21 being registered by both teams in the four meetings!

Team News For Rangers.

The one good thing to come out of the postponed match last weekend was that it has given several players an extra week to rest various knocks and minor injuries, so Macdonald will be hoping that he can pick from a decent pool available to him.

One player who will be missing, however, will be Andy Maxted. The defender is still suspended following his dismissal against Rothwell Reserves.

Man In The Middle.

Mr. James Ferguson is the referee for this game. This will be his sixth game in charge, alongside seven more as an assistant referee.

In his sole matches, he has sent one player to the Sin-Bin, issued 10 yellow cards and sent off one player!

Following The Match.

Should you wish to go and watch this game, the address you will need is Whitechapel Road, Low Moor, Cleckheaton, BD19 6HW.

To end the afternoon, we will be presenting our Kirk Deighton Rangers Bar Three Man Of The Match award to the winning player, so please stay and give the lucky recipient your congratulations.
